carnevale 2012

ho finito i costumi di carnevale 2 giorni in anticipo, ma nonostante ciò, riesco a postare le foto solo 2 giorni dopo carnevale! la mia scusa: una giornata di carnevale molto stancante e un bimbo con raffreddore forte e febbre (e denti che vogliono spuntare). managgia! però, finito le mie scuse...ecco a voi trilly e peter pan!

despite the fact that i finished the carnival costumes 2 days early, i am only now managing to post the pictures 2 days after the actual day of carnival! my excuse: a very tiring carnival celebration and a little boy with a bad cold and fever (and teeth that are just waiting to pop out). dang it! so anyway, now that i'm done making excuses...here are tinkerbell and peter pan!

iniziamo con trilly. ho già scritto qui sul tutù e sulle ali. se qualcuno di voi ha seguito uno dei link (su come fare le ali), avrete già capito da dove sono partita con il costume di trilly. l'ho cambiato un po' da questa originale. (no, non state immaginando le cose. in alcune foto la mia trilly ha i capelli lunghi raccolti in vera stile trilly mentre in altre ce li ha più corti. una mattina ha deciso di tagliare i capelli da sola, quindi ho dovuto intervenire di urgenza con i miei forbici!)

let's start with tinkerbell. i already wrote here about the tutu and wings. if any of you followed one of the links (on how to make the wings), you probably have already figured out what i used as a base idea for the tinkerbell costume. i changed it a bit from this original. (and no, you're not imagining things. in some pictures my tinkerbell has long hair pulled back in a true tinkerbell fashion while in others it's shorter. one morning she decided to cut her hair herself, so i had to intervene with my own scissors!)

 
invece di un solo pezzo (temevo difficoltà a fare la pipì alla festa di scuola), ho fatto un top con i bottoni a pressione sulle spalle (tessuto non elasticizzato, quindi non sarebbe passata la testa) e una gonnellina separata. poi all'ultimo momento ho pensato di fare anche le copri-scarpe di trilly con i pompon, che non sono nel tutorial originale.

instead of making one piece (fearing difficulty peeing at school party), i made a top with snaps on the shoulders (the fabric wasn't stretchy, so her head wouldn't have gotten through) and a separate skirt. then at the last minute i decided to make shoe covers with tinkerbell pompoms, which aren't in the original tutorial.

è stato un costume molto facile da fare. lo volevo fare in pile per non dovermi preoccupare di rifinire gli orli, ma al mercato non c'era in verde. ma ho trovato un altro tessuto che comunque non si fila. si chiude il top e la cintura con il velcro.

it was a very easy costume to make. i wanted to make it in fleece so i wouldn't have to worry about hemming, but they didn't have green fleece at the market. however i did find another non-ravelling fabric. the top and belt close with velcro.

sono particolarmente contenta di com'è venuto il cappello. ho avuto l'idea di cucire il tetrapak dentro la piuma (di pile) per renderla più rigida. nella foto sotto ho spostato il pile per farsi vedere il tetrapak. mi dispiace di non averci pensato per il coltellino di pile sulla cintura.

i am particularly pleased with how the hat came out. i sewed tetrapak inside the fleece feather to make it more rigid. i moved the fleece aside in the picture below to show the tetrapak inside. i only wish i'd thought of that when i was making the fleece knife on the belt.

non solo è facile di fare un costume del genere, si può anche mettere sopra il giubbino invernale quando si decide di andare a una festa di carnevale in provincia di avellino in un giorno di gran freddo.

erano passati una decina di giorni da quando il paese di montemarano è stato sepolto dalla neve e ce ne era ancora tantissimo. è stata la prima volta che mia figlia di 5 anni ha visto la neve. e solo la seconda volta che la vedo io da 10 anni. è una cosa assurda, considerando che sono cresciuta in un posto dove la neve così è del tutto normale!

it was about 10 days after the town of montemarano had been buried by snow and there was still an awful lot of it. it was the first time that my 5-year-old saw snow. and only the second time that i'd seen it in 10 years. which is absolutely crazy, considering that i grew up in a place where this type of snow is completely routine!
