in ferie! - on vacation!

saremo fuori in ferie dal 26 luglio fino al 2 settembre! passeremo 5 settimane negli stati uniti fra la zona dove sono cresciuta (boston) e la zona dove sono nata (california). scriverò sul blog durante la mia assenza, ma non posso proprio gestire le vendite da quella distanza, quindi ho già chiuso temporaneamente i miei due negozi online che riaprerò al mio ritorno. se volete qualche informazione sui prodotti in vendita o qualunque altra cosa, mi potete sempre scrivere una mail nel frattempo: cucicucicoo@gmail.com.

contest: portare i bambini in vacanza! - contest: carrying children on vacation!

ho saputo ieri di un concorso molto carino che fanno quei simpaticoni di equazione. si chiama “portare i bambini in vacanza” e l’idea è di diffondere il concetto del portare i bambini (con la fascia di diversi tipi, il meitai, o altri supporti) senza il passeggino e raccogliere le esperienze dei genitori usando questi supporti durante le vacanze.

yesterday i found out about a very cool contest that the good folks at equazione are holding. it’s called “portare i bambini in vacanza” (carrying children on vacation) and the idea is to spread the concept of carrying children (with slings, mei tais or other things) without a stroller and to collect parents’ experiences using these types of support during vacation.

si può partecipare in due categorie, o inviando delle foto di te portando il tuo bambino in vacanza o scrivendo un diario di viaggio della tua esperienza usando questi supporti in ferie. ci sono dei premi molto carini da vincere in ciascuna delle categorie e ognuno che partecipa aiuterà i genitori che hanno dei dubbi sul portare bambini. ma, mi raccomando, bisogna inviare il tutto entro il 1 ottobre 2010! andate a vedere sul blog o nel forum di facebook.

you can participate in two categories, either sending photos of you carrying your child during your vacation or writing a travel journal of your experiences using these articles while on holiday. there are very nice prizes to win in each category and everyone who participates will be helping parents who aren’t sure about the practice of carrying. but don’t forget to send in your entries by october 1st, 2010! go check out the blog or the facebook forum (all in italian, sorry!) 

che bello! - yah for me!

sono stata molto fortunata questa settimana…sono stata premiata ben due volte! mi sento molto lusingata, veramente. ringrazio per prima laura di che birba che mi ha conferito il premio dardos, che è un premio davvero carino, con un bel significato.

ringrazio le due blogghiste tanto, ma davvero tanto, per avermi pensato, soprattutto in questo periodo che non faccio quasi niente sul mio blog (mi sto impazzendo preparando tutto per la nostra partenza per gli stati uniti fra una settimana e poi la stanza con il computer a casa nostra è come una sauna in questo periodo e non è molto invitante starci dentro per scrivere).

i really thank the two bloggers a bunch for having thought of me, especially in this period that i haven’t been doing hardly anything on my blog (i’ve been going crazy getting things ready for our departure for the united states in a week, not the mention the fact that the room in our apartment with the computer in it is like a sauna these days and isn’t particularly inviting to stay inside it).

detto questo, vorrei riconoscere tutti e due, ma non posso accettare i premi perché non ce la faccio proprio a selezionare pochi blog dai tantissimi che li meritano, non in questo periodo. e quindi, mando un abbraccio a tutti quanti! :)

having said this, i’d like to recognize both, but i can’t accept the awards because i just can’t handle selecting just a few blogs from the many that deserve them, at least not now. so, i send out a hug to all of you! :)

aceto e bicarbonato - vinegar and baking soda

da qualche mese mi sto informando su come pulire la casa e fare tante altre cose senza l’uso di prodotti di pulizie del supermercato, pieni di sostanze sconosciute e chimiche. mia madre ha sempre usato il rimedio di bicarbonato, aceto e acqua bollente per gli scarichi bloccati, ma non sapevo che l’aceto toglie il calcare meglio del viakal, o che il bicarbonato è una meraviglia per togliere gli odori sgradevoli da tante superficie. ne scriverò quando avrò raccolto e testato molti di questi metodi, ma per ora vi segnalo qualche fonte di informazione sulle pulizie ecologiche. se sapete di altri fonti, fatemelo sapere!

i’ve been reading recently about ways to clean the house and do lots of other things without using cleaning products from the supermarket, full of chemical ingredients with names i can’t pronounce. my mother has always remedied a blocked sink drain with baking soda, vinegar and hot water, but i didn’t know that vinegar removes limestone deposits better than viakal, or that baking soda gets yucky smells out of tons of things. i’ll write more about this after i’ve tested out more of these methods, but for now i’d like to just let you all know about some of my sources for ecological cleaning ideas. if you know of others, let me know! 

il primo posto dove ho visto parlare del argomento di biodetersivi fai-da-te è stata la rubrica basta saperlo di galline 2nd life e nella cucina di ely. queste due blogghiste propongono tante idee come parte dei loro blog per pulizie ecologiche.

the first place i saw something about homemade ecological cleaning products was the online collection of ideas called basta saperlo created by galline 2nd life and nella cucina di ely. these two italian bloggers propose lots of ecological ideas in their blogs. 

poi ho scoperto il sito detersivi bio allegri, che è una fonte incredibile di idee ecologiche. hanno anche una scheda pdf da scaricare che consulto in continuazione.

then i discovered the site detersivi bio allegri, which is an incredible source of ecological ideas. they also have a pdf to download (in italian) that i am constantly consulting. 

ho letto in un blog (non mi ricordo più quale) di questo libro. si chiama bicarbonato. un rimedio ecologico e alla portata di tutti, di lise soto. non l’ho letto, ma mi ha fatto venire in mente l’idea di comprare qualche libro su questi argomenti. ma visto che c’erano già delle cose che volevo ordinare da amazon, ho invece ordinato 3 libri in inglese:

e green cleaning: natural hints and tips di margaret briggs. questa scrittrice ha fatto anche un libro sul bicarbonato, ma quello di vicki lansky mi sembrava più divertente. comunque, questo libro dice molte delle cose che si trovano nei libri sul bicarbonato e sull’aceto, ma parla anche dell’uso del limone.

and green cleaning: natural hints and tips by margaret briggs. this author also wrote a book on baking soda, but vicki lansky’s book seemed funnier. anyway, this book repeats a lot of things that are in the books on baking soda and vinegar, but also talks about using lemon for cleaning purposes.

non lo so di voi, ma ogni volta che scopro una nuova soluzione ecologico per pulire la casa o fare qualche altro servizio, mi emoziono tanto! non vedo l’ora di compilare tutto l’elenco di strategie ecologiche da condividere con voi!

i don’t know about you, but every time i discover a new ecological cleaning solution, i get all excited! i can’t wait to get the whole list of ecological strategies ready to share with you!
